'La Provence' reviews new Picasso exhibition at MuCEM in Marseille

A new exhibition, Picasso: A genius without a pedestal, opened at the MuCEM museum in Marseille yesterday. The show examines Picasso's influences stemming from popular arts and traditions, as well as the artisans he worked with. This includes the linocuts he created with the printmaker, Hidalgo Arnéra, and we were delighted to be able to loan some of our examples to the exhibition including Picasso's Vallauris Exposition posters, which we are told is the first time they have all been shown together, as well as a progressive set of Le Banderillero (see image). The show runs until 29th August 2016. We highly recommend seeing the exhibition if you are able, as much for the museum building itself which was opened in 2013 and sits on the waterfront, as for the detailed journey through Picasso's body of works.
